  • Mwambashi offers guests the greatest wildlife viewing opportunities. The National Park is home to large herds of Elephant and Buffalo. Lion are common and plains game is abundant. Both early morning and later afternoon game drives are available on this Zambia safari. The Lodge also conducts night drives during your Zambia safari when Leopard, Hyena, Civet and Genet are often sighted.

The impressive diversity of birdlife within the valley makes Mwambashi an ornithologist's paradise. As can be expected, the River itself forms a focal point of many of Mwambashi's game activities.

Comfortable pontoons take clients on sundowner cruises and game viewing trips whilst short canoe safaris and walking trails are available for the more adventurous. Serious naturalists and conservation minded guests will be interested in the scientific project to study the African Wild Dog that is currently underway at Mwambashi. Although generally considered to be an endangered species, the area boasts a healthy population of the unique animal.

Of all the activities and properties operated by Safari Par Excellence, Mwambashi River Lodge has the greatest wildlife opportunities. The Lower Zambezi National Park is home to large herds of Elephant and Buffalo and Lion are common.

Regular plains game sightings include Kudu, Zebra, Impala, Warthog, Bushbuck and Baboons. There are large pods of Hippo in the river directly in front of the lodge, as well as Crocodile. Night drives are an option at Mwambashi and Leopard, Hyena, Porcupine, Civet, Genet and Honeybadger are commonly sighted. Wild dog and Cheetah do occur in the Lower Zambezi National Park, but are not common sightings. The diversity of birdlife is impressive during your Zambia safari.
