The South Luangwa National Park is set in an area that offers superb game viewing and open 4x4 game vehicles are the ideal way to discover the National Park during your Zambia safari. Kafunta River Lodge guests are offered a fantastic range of game activities from game drives, night drives, walking safaris and bird watching tours to cultural tours which can be combined as per your request.
You can start the day with an early morning wake up call, and then a light breakfast is served before you head out on your morning game drive. The early start will give you the chance to experience the awakening of the African bush with its great diversity. The cooler morning hours are a good time to see the animals' morning activities.
The walking trails are a great opportunity to be at one with nature. Your qualified, experienced safari guides and armed National Park rangers will escort you safely into the wild African Bush.
The Luangwa Valley is one of the few places in Africa where it is possible to walk amongst wildlife in true wilderness. During the walking safaris the guides will have a chance to explain the little details of the bush, spoor, vegetation and the ecology, which will be an unmatched wildlife experience.
During your stay you have the chance to visit the local community to find out more about their way of life and culture. The Kuanda people are a friendly and proud people who welcome visitors and are happy to share their culture and traditions.
Kafunta River Lodge has its own pontoon 5 minutes from the lodge. The adventurous crossing takes you into the more remote areas of the Park - an alternative to the main gate 10km (game driving) north of the Lodge.

Nile Crocodile
|
Nile Crocodiles are the world's largest reptiles - up to 6 metres (19ft) long and 1 000 kg (2 200 pounds). These prehistoric creatures live up to 100 years old. The female lays about 40 eggs and the incubation temperature determines the hatchling's sex.
